Yaum e maader sabhi manaate hain
Maan ki azmat ke geet gaate hain

Maan hai jinke wajood ki zaamin
Maan ko aksar woh bhool jaate hain

Maan ki mamta jahaan mein hai anmol
Muft mein jisko sab ganwaate hain

Maan ne ki jinki naaz bardaari
Naaz biwi ke woh uthaate hain

Ghar ki sheerazah bandi maan se hai
Maan na ho to yeh toot jaate hain

Unhein maaloom hai ki maan kyaa hai
Maan se jo log choot jaate hain

Maan ka jab bhi khayaal aata hai
Sote sote woh jaag jaate hain

Yeh khayaalaat hain bahut dilsoz
Neend raaton ki jo udaate hain

Maan ka woh qaul yaad hai mujh ko
Wadah karte hain jo nibhaate hain

Maan thee jab tak mujhe khayaal na thaa
Ab mujhe din woh yaad aate hain

Maan ka ne’amul badal naheen Barqi
Is liye jashn yeh manaate hain

Dr. Ahmad Ali 'Barqi' Azmi is an eminent Urdu broadcaster and poet. He has been working with the All India Radio for more than three decades. His father, Mr. Rehmat Ali Barq was an well-known poet and belonged to the Dabistan-e-Dagh. Barqi is a poet of international fame, known mainly for his prowess to compose verses on the spot (Filbadeeh poetry). Rooh-e-Sukhan is his first collection of poetry.
