Main banker rah gaya hoon ek tamasha sab tamashaaii

Junoon e shauq hai yeh beneyaaz e khauf e ruswaaii

Kaheen aisa na ho yeh raaz tash az baam ho jaye

Karoon soz e duroon par kis tarah main khama farsaaii

Na pooch aye hamnasheen kaise guzarti hai shab e furqat

Bahut sabr aazmaa hota hai yeh ehsaas e tanhaaii

Achanak dawat e nazzarah jab deta hai woh mujhko

Nahin rahti basa auqaat mujh mein tab e goyaaii

Jidhar jao udhar wahshat gareebaangir hoti hai

Junoon e ishq ne mujhko bana dala hai saudaaii

Woh khud wada shikan hai phir bhi mujh se poochhta hai yeh

Kahaan itne dinon the aaj meri kaise yaad aaii

Kamaan e zindagi hai meri uske haath mein tab se

Hui jis roz se BARQI meri us se shenasaaii

Dr. Ahmad Ali 'Barqi' Azmi is an eminent Urdu broadcaster and poet. He has been working with the All India Radio for more than three decades. His father, Mr. Rehmat Ali Barq was an well-known poet and belonged to the Dabistan-e-Dagh. Barqi is a poet of international fame, known mainly for his prowess to compose verses on the spot (Filbadeeh poetry). Rooh-e-Sukhan is his first collection of poetry.
